Giant Rhubarb
Photographed this giant inflorescence of the giant rhubarb (Gunnera tinctoria) in the rooftop park on the Salesforce Transit Centre San Francisco, sometime back.
I was amazed at the size of the plant that was totally new for me.
Each leaf is approximately 1.5 to 2 metre across. The inflorescence can be more than a metre high and it is quite a sight! You can see the interesting pattern of arrangement of florets on the inflorescence.
The plant is a native of Chilie and is considered invasive.
