Vazhachal

When we think of Kerala, the first image that comes to our mind is the beautiful greenery of the State!
This place is located around the west-flowing Chalakudy River of Kerala in the verdant Vazhachal Forest of Western Ghats. It is just 5 km from entrance of
Athirappilly Falls.
Although this spot is called Vazhachal Falls, it is not a waterfall in the true sense. The falls at Vazhachal are more of a continuous series of massive rapids present throughout the entire stretch of the river at Vazhachal.
The river tumbles over huge boulders and rocks down a slope at this spot thus creating a profusion of foam and a waterfall-like impact.
The unspoilt forest region provides a tranquil getaway from a busy city life!!

Yosemite

Yosemite (yo-SE-mea-tea) National Park is best known for its towering granite monoliths, deep valleys, waterfalls and ancient giant sequoias.
The day I entered Yosemite it started snowing, that season’s first snowing. Looked like the visit was badly timed… but there was no option. For a person from the opposite part of the world this was an exciting experience! 😊 Couldn’t view the iconic monoliths. Managed a few shots of the landscape covered with the first snow of the season. It looked beautiful!! The first picture was captured just before snowing and then the spectacle unfolded!!
The road was intermittently cleared by the agencies concerned.

Thusharagiri

‘Thusharagiri’ literally means ‘misty mountain’, a name given due to the snowy spray of water droplets of the waterfalls that surround the mountains like a misty blanket.
Thusharagiri Falls is a scenic waterfall located in Kozhikode district, in my native state of Kerala, India. This is among the well-known tourist places of Wayanad and can be visited throughout the year, monsoon season being the best time.
Surrounding the waterfalls are the evergreen forests of Western Ghats. The gurgling streams add to the pristine beauty of the place and the place is known as the ‘trekker’s paradise’.
Thusharagiri falls is formed by the cascading Chalippuzha river.

Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon, located in the state of Arizona, USA, is often considered one of the Wonders of the World with visually overwhelming size and its intricate and colourful landscape.
The awe-inspiring Grand Canyon is a deep gorge carved by the Colorado River through millions of years.
We can see a unique combination of geological colours and erosional forms of landscape. These layered bands of red rock reveal millions of years of geological history.
The Grand Canyon is a World Heritage Site.
These photographs were taken from the South Rim of the Canyon.

Athirappally

The name Athirappally immediately brings the vision of the mighty falls of Kerala to the mind.
It is formed by the Chalakudy River that originates in Anamalai ranges of Western Ghats. The beautiful river plunges here as Athirappally Falls. Nature is at its best here!
The waterfalls is a favourite destination and it continues to attract many tourists year-round.
The place is famous as cine location also.
These scenes were captured during the lean season of the falls. When Chalakudy River swells during the monsoon season, Athirappally falls is a sight to behold!!

From the Himalayan Kingdom

A small, landlocked country nestled deep in the Himalayas between India and China, Bhutan is characterized by steep mountains and deep valleys.

The pristine nature is so mesmerizing and awe-inspiring. Bhutan is a country for nature lovers… not forgetting the traditional art and architecture!

Druk Yul — the local name for Bhutan — means “Land of the Thunder Dragon”. Haa Valley is one of the most beautiful, and isolated areas in the kingdom, adorned with pristine alpine forests and tranquil mountain peaks. Three views of Haa valley are presented here.

Scotland of India

Coorg, officially called Kodagu, is one of the most sought-after hill stations of Karnataka. Coorg landscape is mountainous and stays misty throughout the year. It is nicknamed the ‘Scotland of India’.

Undulating hills covered in lush green forests, valleys and the streams cutting right through them offer stunning scenic beauty. Coffee plantations, tea gardens and orange groves add to the charm of Coorg.

It is the place to be for all nature lovers. It also stands as a popular destination because of its Kodava culture.

Berkeley Marina bay view
Berkeley is a city on the east coast of San Francisco Bay, California. It is named after the 18th-century Irish bishop and philosopher George Berkeley.
Berkeley Marina is the westernmost portion of the city. The beautiful area with walking and cycling path is a great attraction for residents as well as tourists. It offers great view of the Golden Gate Bridge and on a cloudless day an awesome view of the sunset!!

See it here.

These are evening scenes from Berkeley Marina. First picture is taken from the walkers’ path of the Marina and the next two, from the old pier (seen in the first image).

Princess of Hill stations

Kodaikanal, the Princess of Hill stations, is located in the Palani Hills (Western Ghats) of Tamil Nadu in South India. The hill station was developed in the latter part of 18th century by American Christian missionaries and British bureaucrats.
Thickly wooded hills, mighty rocks, creeks and waterfalls, meadows and narrow forest paths delight visitors and nature lovers.
Gardens and wild flowers adorn the slopes of Kodaikanal.

The unique event of blossoming of Kurinji flowers that happens only once in 12 years makes the entire mountainous landscape purplish blue, undoubtedly a spellbinding sight in Kodaikanal!!

Costal Landscape of Santa Cruz

Are these landscape pictures or seascape? Let us say, ‘Costal landscape’.

These shots were captured near Natural Bridges State Beach and Park, Santa Cruz, California. Natural Bridges State Beach is named for the Natural arch in the huge rock located in the shore break here. This is one of the most photographed beach icons in the state of California.

The coastline is characterized by Ice plant-blanketed (a succulent) cliffs, sandy coves, and rocky marine terraces.
Birds congregate on these rocks for rest and hunting for prey.

The rock in the picture shows a sideview of the Natural arch.
